CSL Why sit it out

Why warm-up
and cool-down?

Start your new activity with confidence by taking time to warm-up before and cool-down after. This way, you can join the growing number of people with haemophilia around the country who refuse to sit it out.

Check out these tailored routines

Physiotherapist Zamira Jaffer shares a warm-up and cool-down routine you can do every time you exercise. They’re here to help you prevent injury and perform at your best. Follow along with Zamira in the videos below to learn how to safely complete each movement.

The warm-up and cool-down routines are tailored for people with bleeding disorders, and suitable for all ages. Zamira also shows how the movements can be modified if you use a wheelchair or if you have any lower-body injuries.

Warm-up routine

Get your muscles and joints ready for exercise and raise your heart rate with this warm-up routine.

Cool-down routine

Help your body recover after exercise and safely lower your heart rate with this cool-down routine.

Are you a parent?

Get your little one involved by following along with the videos together or teach them how to do the movements yourself, using Zamira's guidance to help you.

Before you
get started

There are a few important things you need to do:

  • Speak to your haemophilia care team to make sure the routines are safe for you.
  • Pick a space with enough room to roll out an exercise mat on the floor.
  • Have a bottle of water nearby to keep hydrated.
  • Make sure you have eaten something at least a couple of hours ago.

If you feel dizzy or faint, or experience any sharp, sudden pain at any point, stop and seek advice from your haemophilia care team.
